3 products by lihe in eCommerce

Jacques Le Roux
Administrator
Hi,

At least, Ruth and Chris Snow have complained about the "new" 3 products by line on the eCommerce page.
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-2602

So I'd like to know people's opinions about that since nobody seems to have a fix for it : should we revert to one product by line ?

Thanks

Jacques

I posted a response in the jira issue, the problem should be easy to
solve I just haven't had time to try it out.

Re: 3 products by lihe in eCommerce

Ruth Hoffman-2
Hi Jacques:
Is this what you are talking about? This is what that URL resolves to:

    "all that needs to be done is to remove the table and add a float
    left property to the product box, the products will then fit
    themselves into as many columns as the screen width allows for."

If so, please refresh my memory: What table (which file is this in)? and
which "product box"?  When I originally reported this JIRA, I gave a
specific CSS file. Are we still talking about the same file?

TIA. I haven't looked at this in a while.
Ruth

Hi Jacques:
Thanks. I'll poke around later today and see if I can't figure out what

Re: 3 products by lihe in eCommerce

Ruth Hoffman-2
In reply to this post by Jacques Le Roux
Hi Jacques:
Just tried this. If the intended effect is to list one product after
another, each on a separate line, then this works. However, I thought
the idea was to preserve the 3x3 matrix. If so, then this does not fix
that problem. It simply puts each product listing on a separate line -
with too much white space in between each entry. [The white space issue
can be fixed with some further CSS adjustments.]

FYI - If this is all that needs to be done, why wouldn't you fix this in
the screen widget definition by setting value=1 as shown below vs. a
modification to the Freemarker file?:

<screen name="categorydetailmatrix">
        <section>
            <actions>
                <set field="numCol" value="1"/>
                <set field="searchInCategory" value="N"/>
                <set field="parameters.VIEW_SIZE"
from-field="parameters.VIEW_SIZE" default-value="9"/>
            </actions>
            <widgets>
                <include-screen name="categorydetail"/>
            </widgets>
        </section>
    </screen>

Regards,
Ruth

Ruth,

This sounds like a brillant idea if it works. Maybe one day someone will come with a solution for  numCol >1.
I think I will do it if nobody has a better idea (ie is able to fix the > 1 col issue)

I tried on XP with FF 3.5, Opera, Chrome, IE8 and  Safari, same issue: the 1st product is shown at the right place but the others
are
under the last element of the left column. I guess it's only a small change in CSS but I don't have time for that

Hi Jacques:
So does this mean that the 3x3 matrix will continue to be used for the
ecommerce demo landing page?
