Hi Pierre,

Could you please stop cross-posting?

http://apache.org/dev/contrib-email-tips.html#rightlist
http://directory.apache.org/mailing-lists-and-irc.html

I understand you're a PMC member of the Apache Directory project so I would
assume you're familiar with ASF email etiquette.

Many thanks
Scott

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Plugin components for OFBiz and OFBizBase

Jacopo Cappellato-5
In this case, the announcement is more suited for the "user" list where
adopters, end users, integrators, service providers meet and discuss.
The "dev" list should only be used to discuss changes to the official
codebase (i.e. hosted in the ASF svn); the "private" list is used by the
PMC to discuss new invitations and very few other topics.

Kind regards,

Jacopo

Oh nice to sharing your tries with the plugin system but why sprayed the
three mailing list with that.

I think //
<http://context.reverso.net/traduction/anglais-francais/It+works+directly+against>It
works directly against your initiative, just on user list would have
been much more advisable.

Pierre,

I'm not sure to understand, this list are
- ready to use plugin with the ofbiz plugin system ?
- or only component to use as copy-paste in hot-deploy ?

Pierre,

Do we really need to have that cross-posted on dev and private ?

Please only send to the user ML.

Thanks

@Pierre: I appreciate the effort. Thanks

@all: Out of 5 replies so far, there is not a single positive reflection on his effort. Only 5 complaints about his cross-posting. In the light of other cross postings ("Premier League"), this really seems out of place - a single message would have been enough.

Re: Plugin components for OFBiz and OFBizBase

Pierre Smits
In reply to this post by Olivier.heintz
Olivier,

Any OFBiz adopter can choose how he/she likes. Meaning:

   - copy/paste directly in to there application folder of choice
   (applications, hot-deploy, special-purpose, themes);
   - clone as a git module and use in their GitHub fork of OFBiz [1] (or
   even better: OFBIzBase [2]) in their folder of choice;
   - clone as an svn module and use itheir SVN checkout of OFBiz (or even
better: OFBizBase) in their folder of choice.

I offer choice, not dictats.

[1] https://github.com/apache/ofbiz
[2] https://github.com/pierresmits/OFBizBase (OFBiz without the all the
components as bloatware)

Actually, I asked Pierre not to cross post less than a week ago and this is
the 2nd time he's done it since.  Perhaps a few more requests are warranted
since he seems to ignore them.

These recent instances aren't the first time we've been through this with
Pierre either.  I get the feeling he sees it as some form of civil
disobedience, chances are that getting 5 complaints about it was quite
satisfying for him.

Scott

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Plugin components for OFBiz and OFBizBase

Okay, but the code of conduct also states that there shouldn't be any form of personal address or double posts. Nor should there be any personal attacks either:

http://apache.org/dev/contrib-email-tips.html#respect

All I'm saying is: I think that just like the double post, a single person response should be enough ;)

---
Curiously enough, we should not address one another by our gender either, so there's that...

Re: [ANNOUNCE] Plugin components for OFBiz and OFBizBase

It may have been a side-effect of cross-posting.  The other replies may not
have been visible if they were replying from a different list (due to
filtering or whatever).  It's not uncommon for people to only see pieces of
a conversation when cross-posting is involved.

I don't see it as a personal attack to call someone out for repeatedly
defying community etiquette.  Some references from a quick search, I'm
almost certain there's been more:
http://markmail.org/message/ycysd436ry2jv4s2
http://markmail.org/message/7gu5m7fidxhw66ew
http://markmail.org/message/qgwjvrhltm2sqwkn

Not to mention he's starting going further and including the private list
in his communications which isn't remotely appropriate and serves zero
purpose other than to defy etiquette.  If you think there is some other
interpretation available, please feel free to share it.

Regards
Scott
