Actual Freight charges

James Lawton
When an order is placed there are a range of fixed price shipping options.
Is there a way to pull in actual shipping costs from a carrier, for example
based on weight?

Thanks

James

if the shipper has a interface to get this info, yes.
this is done with USPS, UPS, and FEDEX now.

RE: Actual Freight charges

James Lawton
Thanks

I assume I configure those interfaces through the Facilities / Shipping
Gateway config page

However when a user is creating an order and is filling in the shipping
information, how does he invoke that interface? There is an option under
SHipment Method which says "No Shipping - calculated offline" and that is
the only one which does not have a fixed rate associated with it...is that
the option to be used?

Thanks
James

Re: Actual Freight charges

BJ Freeman
when an order is getting shipping info it comes from the shipping
estimates.
you have to customize to get realtime shipping from for the order.
the problem comes because you basically have used part of the shipping,
so if the order is changed or canceled you have to cancel the shipping
with the shipper, in some cases.
