Anyone working on a newer PayPal integration for Ofbiz?

Dank Me
Hey everyone,

I am currently in the process of migrating our company website over to Ofbiz 16. First off, just want to say as a long-time developer and user of Ofbiz, so far I LOVE what I am seeing with Ofbiz 16! Lots of great improvements to what I think is already a great product.

Specifically, one of the many things I am working on is upgrading our PayPal API. I may be mistaken (and correct me if I am wrong), but I believe the only PayPal integration support currently within Ofbiz (for all releases) are the 2 PayPal classes (PayPalEvents and PayPalServices), which I believe is only for the NVP (Name Value Pair) part of the PayPal API and hasn’t been updated for quite some time. The newest PayPal NVP API has changed a lot since what is currently implemented in Ofbiz. I don’t believe what is there currently in Ofbiz will work OOTB with the newest PayPal NVP API.

Furthermore, as most of you probably know, PayPal now has a cool newer API using Braintree v.zero for PayPal website integration. Seems to be a much cleaner, elegant, and simpler design/implementation. Has anyone already successfully integrated it into Ofbiz? Anybody working on an integration? Anybody interested in working on creating some generic integration classes/code for Ofbiz?

I will probably be working on this soon and wanted to see what was already being done out there. If there is a need, I don’t mind creating some newer generic Ofbiz PayPal API integration classes using the newer PayPal API that can be added into the core Ofbiz, but I don’t want to reinvent the wheel if someone else has already started it. I know it is only third party integration stuff but I think it would be cool if the Ofbiz PayPal integration could be updated (since I would think most websites using Ofbiz probably use PayPal to some degree anyway).

Let me know! And thanks in advance.

Regards,

Steve Dankanich

Hi Steve,

I think a contribution for an up-to-date PayPal integration support for
OFBiz would be great and it will be highly appreciated!

Thanks for your support,

Michael
