Birt,Fop...which to use?

Wai
Hello All,

Do Birt reports (*rptdesign) serve the same purpose as Apache Fop related files (*fo.ftl).  If so, is there a current preference at this stage of development for ofbiz as to which to use when designing formatted outputs (ie. Pdf, ps, etc)?

Thanks

there is some documentation buried in the code,, I believe a controller
that shows how it is used.

birt incorporates the Fop for pdf output but has more ability.
