Conditional BOMs for components of Configurable Products

jonwimp
Say I need 4 screws to mount a harddisk. Can I tie 4 screws to the harddisk based on some rules?
One rule would be "only upon assembly into a PC001". If the harddisk were sold as it is, the 4
screws will not be included.

You would include the screws in your BOM using Manufacturing > Bill Of
Materials > Manufacturing Rules for PC001 and if you were selling the hard
disk as is it wouldn't come in to the equation anyway because HD001(the hard
disk) would be a separate product.

Ok, I was wrong about that, you would do it in configurations on the product
manager

Scott,

Hey, it works!

To quickly list down what I found:

1. Go to Catalog module.

2. Click on Configurations tab.

3. Edit say Config Item IT0001 (harddisk)

4. Click on Config Options tab.

5. Edit say the 1st Config Option.

6. In the Components section below, add GZ-2644, say 4 units.

Now the harddisk comes with 4 Round Gizmos to screw it on to PC001! Think of Round Gizmos as screws.

Thanks, Scott! Another feature I don't have to implement.
