Hi all,
Anybody knows what is the effect of defining an account as 'Loan Account'? I am in a situation here where the bank account type and the loan account are the same, but I don't know if I should create just one, as bank account, or two. I'm just wondering too if the financial account section is the right place to put all the transactions (deposit/withdrawal) made by the company (as internal org) like granted loans, purchase of fixed assets, etc. that should be posted on the GL and apply the amount to an specific fin. account. I'll appreciate if someone can shed some light on this. -- ----- Jonatan Soto |
if you look at the demo data you will see a GL and default accounts.
discuss this with an accountant that knows your business. not sure what you asking about fanatical account section being the right place. ========================= BJ Freeman <http://bjfreeman.elance.com> Strategic Power Office with Supplier Automation <http://www.businessesnetwork.com/automation/viewforum.php?f=52> Specialtymarket.com <http://www.specialtymarket.com/> Systems Integrator-- Glad to Assist Chat Y! messenger: bjfr33man Jonatan Soto sent the following on 8/23/2010 3:20 PM: > Hi all, > > Anybody knows what is the effect of defining an account as 'Loan Account'? Thanks BJ for your quick response. But I think you misunderstood my first
question. I have defined my own charts of accounts following the spanish (Spain) official definitions. I've also defined the GlAccountClasses corresponding to that definition too (pending to create a Jira including patches for reporting + wiki page for this). But there's nothing can't do an accountant regarding on how Ofbiz handles different types of financial accounts just in case Ofbiz handles something or just let define different types for classification purposes and do nothing else. This is my question plus the situation I found where a bank account is the same as the loan account. Sorry, I must elaborate more the other question. I am basically asking what is the purpose of the 'Fin. Account' section in the Accounting webapp. I want to know if it is the right place to put all the operations from the point of view of an internal organization. I am a bit confused when I read the Accounting doc: .... Financial Accounts can be used for the following: 1. Managing and Tracking Customer Prepaid Accounts 2. Managing and Tracking Customer Credit Limit (NOTE: Need to verify this) 3. Managing Electronic Gift Certificates / Gift Vouchers/ Gift Card 4. Reload of Electronic Gift Card 5. *Company Bank Account Transaction Tracking * ...... So one question could be, how can I create a granted loan deposit transaction in the Fin. Account and post an accounting transaction with their corresponding debit/credit GLAccount? Should I use a Fin. Account of type 'Loan Acoount' instead of 'Bank Account' for instance?
