Fixed Asset Facility Assignment

Gavin Mabie
Hi

Currently assigning assets are based on a single asset assignment
methodology from the EditFixedAsset form/screen.    This screen lists on
"noConditionFind" all assets in the database.  Assigning fixed assets from
here has the potential of linking parent and child assets to different
facilities and parties - leading to unreliable databindings.  Is there a way
to assign child assets automatically once the parent has been assigned?

Thanks

Gavin

I'm not sure what you mean by unreliable databindings.

As far as I know, there is no way to automatically assign child assets to facilities or parties.

RE: Fixed Asset Facility Assignment

Gavin Mabie
Hi Adrain

Let me illustrate this by example:
Suppose you have a workstation consisting of various components as a parent
fixed asset;
This captured and assigned to a facility and party;
Now when you capture the components (children) of the workstation you have
the option to assign each to a facility and party;
This creates the possibility to assign children to parties and facilities
other than that of the parent.

A solution might be to create a use use-when condition which will hide
facility and party fields when the asset captured is a child.

Can that work.

Thanks

Gavin

Re: Fixed Asset Facility Assignment

You could create a SECA for that. The scenario you described might be
true in some cases, but it isn't necessarily true for ALL cases.

In fixed asset maintenance for example, a large machine might be
composed of smaller components, and each of those smaller components
might be assigned to different maintenance workers (or outside services)
- depending upon their skill set or qualifications.
