#1 - How big is this PST file? (A large file can take a really long time to process.)
#2 - How long are you waiting before checking Task Manager?
#3 - Does the Task Manager show any activity (memory/cpu/dsik) for the task even though you see "Not responding"? Not unusual to see "Not Responding" on a task at times when the task is intensively busy on something after which "Not Responding" disappears - have seen that happen on a bunch of different tasks.
#4 - Are you running ScanPST on the file with Outlook closed?
