How to develop Inventory Management System using Ofbiz

Hi,

I am newbie to ofbiz i need to develop Inventory Mangement System using ofbiz. Ofbiz itself comes with various components related to ERP.

As my company follows its own standards/practices i need to know how to customize the existing ofbiz ERP to suite my requirements. So that any future patches/enhancements comes through ofbiz should not override my changes.

Please guide me where and how to start.
