That's a work around with it's own complications, but the reason it's
suggested is because what you want is not available OOTB.
Would be a nice feature to add though as I'm sure plenty of users would
be interested in being able to say email only the people that brought
product X in the last 6 months or haven't bought anything in the last 6
months or registered and didn't buy etc. If you could declare filters
like that and then add a simple interface to wrap them in a repeatable
scheduled service you'd have a pretty cool auto emailer.
