Installing on Windows 7

Ethan Vos
Hello everyone.

I'm having trouble installing this on Windows 7.

I put the zip file into a folder named Of biz but I can't seem to get
there from the command prompt.

Any ideas?

Hi Ethan,

Your message has been moderated.

Please subscribe to the user ML for such questions and then use your email client
See why here http://ofbiz.apache.org/mailing-lists.html

You will get a better support , it's more fair to share with everybody  and people can answer you on the ML rather than directly to you
The wider the audience the better the answers you might get

Also it's more work for moderators who have to accept your messages as long as you have not subscribed.
I'll personally no longer accept them (other moderators still could)

Thanks

Try using a folder w/o space in its name.

If it does not work you will need to give us more details, like the version you tried, etc.

Re: Installing on Windows 7

Ethan Vos-2
Sorry, I thought I was on the list - I'm getting emails regularly.

In any case, I got where I needed to be.

I have a folder called Ofbiz. I downloaded the zip file and extracted it
in the folder. A DIR command shows all the files are there.

I then copied and pasted gradlew loadDefault ofbiz (tried with and
without quotation marks) from the install webpage and get an error
"gradlew is not recognized...."

Version 16.11.06

Thanks.

Morning,

I guess you are using 16.12.06, please read the README.md.html file using your browser. You need to use |init-gradle-wrapper 1st.|

Re: Installing on Windows 7

Ethan Vos-2
Good morning.

Ok, I read the README, installed JDK Hotspot (I did not reboot - was I
supposed to?) and ran init-gradle-wrapper from the C:\Ofbiz> prompt.

Got lots of red text, which seems to suggest that the term wget is
causing a problem.

Partial comment - C:\Ofbiz\gradle\init-gradle-wrapper.ps1:26 char:5

Also ps1:27 and ps1:28

If I could copy the text, I'd paste it all.

Any ideas?

Re: Installing on Windows 7

Hi,

I guess your Windows is not up to date or for another reason the alias between Invoke-WebRequest command and wget does not exist on your system. You
can workaround that:

 1. Edit C:\Ofbiz\gradle\init-gradle-wrapper.ps1 (use Notepad for instance)
 2. Replace wget there by Invoke-WebRequest
 3. Save the file and retry

Here they are at the start of each line just replace with

Invoke-WebRequest -outf gradle\wrapper\gradle-wrapper.jar http://dl.bintray.com/apacheofbiz/GradleWrapper/v2.13/gradle-wrapper.jar
Invoke-WebRequest -outf gradle\wrapper\gradle-wrapper.properties http://dl.bintray.com/apacheofbiz/GradleWrapper/v2.13/gradle-wrapper.properties
Invoke-WebRequest -outf gradlew.bat http://dl.bintray.com/apacheofbiz/GradleWrapper/v2.13/gradlew.bat

Re: Installing on Windows 7

Ethan Vos-2
In reply to this post by Jacques Le Roux
Ok, that seemed to work (I think)

Next I tried gradlew cleanAll loadDefault and got:

C:\Users\Caleb>Cd C:\Ofbiz

C:\Ofbiz>init-gradle-wrapper

C:\Ofbiz>gradlew cleanAll loadDefault
'gradlew' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

C:\Ofbiz>

Now what am I doing wrong?

Please copy the content of your C:\Ofbiz\gradle\init-gradle-wrapper.ps1 in your next answer

Also check the content of C:\Ofbiz\gradle\wrapper you should see 2 files: gradle-wrapper.jar and gradle-wrapper.properties

These should be 4 different lines:

# Anyway I believe this should be only used in dev environment

Invoke-WebRequest -outf gradle\wrapper\gradle-wrapper.jar http://dl.bintray.com/apacheofbiz/GradleWrapper/v2.13/gradle-wrapper.jar

Invoke-WebRequest -outf gradlew.bat http://dl.bintray.com/apacheofbiz/GradleWrapper/v2.13/gradlew.bat

Please check in your editor.
