Is SVN information no longer provided with the packaged downloads

Ruth Hoffman-2
Hello Project Committers:

How does one get version numbers from the packaged download?

svn info returns:
svn: '.' is not a working copy

I'd like to report some issues with the current packaged release.

Thanks Ruth

Re: Is SVN information no longer provided with the packaged downloads

BJ Freeman
the 9.04 release (zip) as well as the release 4.0 (zip) file has the svn
information removed through the export command.
They are longer a developmental package.
They will not change.

Use the SVN 9.04 branch to build your test platform and see if you have
the issues. you can look at the SVN 9.04 branch for the date and rev
number of the 9.04 release (zip).
Use the rev from the SVN 9.04 branch you are working with, to report
bugs fixes.

what is put in the SVN 9.04 branch will not change the 9.04 released (zip).

if there are blocking issues that are fixed in the SVN 9.04 branch then,
I think, a vote for a new release 9.04.1 should happen.

As a not I consider the min error (OFBIZ-3835) you found to be a Blocker.

hope  that helps.

Re: Is SVN information no longer provided with the packaged downloads

Ruth Hoffman-2
Hi BJ:
Thanks for the quick response!

How would you recommend that users (such as my self) who download from
the download site - the one published by the project as the "official"
stable release site - report bugs?

Or is the new policy not to take JIRA issues for stable releases?

BTW, I don't really care how its done, I just want to know how to do it.

Thanks again.
Ruth

Re: Is SVN information no longer provided with the packaged downloads

BJ Freeman
yes and no.
you can report it that way, but it may have been solved in the SVN.
so to get attention you will still have to download the current SVN 9.04
or run it on the Demo-stable site and see if the problems Still exits.

Re: Is SVN information no longer provided with the packaged downloads

Scott Gray-2
Not necessarily, users are free to submit jira issues for any bugs they find in a packaged release there is no requirement that they test the bug against the current release revision but ideally they would test it against the latest official release of that branch i.e. the latest released version of 9.04.  If the bug has been fixed but not yet released and users are waiting on it then that noise just increases the likelihood that the community will package a minor release for distribution which is a good thing.

Scott
