Mailing lists on the docs site WAS: how execution of queries takes place in Ofbiz

Scott Gray
Here's a draft page:
http://docs.ofbiz.org/x/yAk

I don't have permission for the Admin space, so when someone with permission
gets a chance it would be great if they could move it over.

Thanks
Scott

Jacopo Cappellato
Scott,

that's great.
I have the admin rights but not to edit your page :-(

Re: Mailing lists on the docs site WAS: how execution of queries takes place in Ofbiz

Scott Gray
Hi Jacopo

I gave permission to confluence-administrators create/edit pages but I guess
that didn't work.  I've just given you direct permission so could you give
it another go?

Thanks
Scott

Yeah this great, but I think that we should not show the commit list as I think it's only for commiters and you can't subscribe to
it if you are not one. Correct me if I'm wrong

No more edit right than Jacopo (is it because it's a personnal space page ?)

Scott,

thanks I could move it.
And now I've added you to my personal spece too, so you should be able
to edit my pages, for example:

http://docs.ofbiz.org/x/7wg

Uhu,

I would be really surprised to know that the commit list is restricted.
In my opinion everyone should subcribe and read the commit logs :-)
I've checked, we have more than 70 subscribers of the commit log list now.

Scott,

I'm going to update the website index page now, and then publish it,
unless you want to do it yourself... it is a good thing to know.

As a newbie it was difficult for me to understand the difference
between customizations and OFBIz development, it wasn´t clear to me
when to post in user and when in dev ML.
I think that you should provide examples of each case and a longer
explanation. Think for example that some newbies (like me) thought
that editing "ANY" code was develompent and that customization was
done from the application at runtime. Later I realized the complexity
of OFBiz and that customization was a lot more, and required coding.

I would add to dev ML description, a line like
"If you´re not sure to which list to post, do it into User Mailing List"

Re: Mailing lists on the docs site WAS: how execution of queries takes place in Ofbiz

Scott Gray
Thanks for the feedback Guido, I'll include your sentence when I get round
to asking for permission for the admin space.

Jacopo, I am planning on doing the website thing, I'll just have to figure
out how first :-)

Regards
Scott

Re: Mailing lists on the docs site WAS: how execution of queries takes place in Ofbiz

Jacopo Cappellato
Great,

it is really very simple:

1) checkout the site folder
svn co https://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/ofbiz/site

2) apply your changes and commit

3) to publish: connect via ssh to the people.apache.org server
ssh [hidden email]

4) cd /www/ofbiz.apache.org

5) svn update

That's all; the changes will be published within on hour.

Jacopo

PS: I've updated the page with Guido's note, but it would be useful to
grant to you and Jacques the edit rights on the Confluence space

Scott Gray
Ok all done, I wish my svn updates were that fast :-)

Do I need to do anything with the updated doap?

Scott
