Measurement & Report on Community interest

Having an opinion is good.  But making strategic decisions, that affect all
readers of all the mailing lists, based on the gut feeling of one or a few
is hardly consensus building.

Measuring the interest of the community in general and regarding OFBiz
applications is a good thing. Reporting on these interests is even better...

Is the PMC capable and willing to report regularly (monthly/quarterly),
let's say a top 10 of trending themes from the mailing lists (per mailing
list)?
This will surely help in gaining consensus about the liveliness of
components.

Pierre this sounds like a wonderful idea but I don't think it's anything that requires the PMC.  I'm sure you could do a wonderful job and the community would value your contribution.  It's always important to remember that everyone is capable of contributing and as a community we should all feel free to lead the charge in any changes we'd like to see.  It also important in an open source community where all time is donated that we don't try and unnecessarily burden others with requests that we could easily perform ourselves.

Scott,

You are right. It is indeed an additional burden. One that we might be able
to lessen with the help of others and some tooling. Maybe the infra group
can assist in this with some additional scripts (or however they do it).
They are already working on creating more insights (see
http://status.apache.org).

Scott,

Thanks for having me remember that I exchanged thoughts on this and similar
subjects regarding reporting on project health with Shane (Curcuru - ASF
Brand Management), Daniel Gruno (infra) and Noah Slater (CouchDb).

I will write an email today to those parties and cc this and the community
development mailing list to discuss what the possibilities are.
