Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

Sameer Bhadale
Hi,
Thanks for prompt reponse.

I tried again adding new catalogs on demo link. I added exisiting categories also (with new catalog) but still catalogs/categories tree not getting populated.

I am not sure whether I will need to add other details ( like store, party etc).

Let me know if you have any inputs.

I have followed same steps as before plus added category to catalog. Still it is not getting populated under tree.

New Catalogs id -> CAR & Color.

Thanks.
Sameer.

Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

Sameer Bhadale
Hi Deepak-
Thanks for response.

Even if I add category with past date ( e.g. 21-Feb-2011) then also catalog is not appearing in the tree.

it will be great if you can provide me sample data with steps. Much thanks.

-sameer.

Just quick question-
If I go to Catalog Manager -> Main, am I suppose to get Catalog tree populated under "Browse Catalogs/Categories"? if yes, I am not getting.
if no, how will I get it?

Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

Pranay Pandey-2
Hi Sameer,

If I go to https://demo-trunk.ofbiz.apache.org/catalog/control/EditProdCatalog I am able to see the CAR and color catalog created by you(I think :)) under "Browse Catalogs/Categories"?
Is this something you are referring to or something else. If this is the case then please provide some more details about how you are expecting it to be. Trying these things locally will help you for sure.
If we talk from the point of view of a developer, understanding the data model working behind these is important and then understanding how actually things should be. If something is obvious and not happening then there is also a scope of improvement which can be discussed and worked on.

HTH.

Thanks & Regards

Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

In reply to this post by Sameer Bhadale
Are you using IE?  It hasn't worked correctly now for about a month
(trunk).  For the latest trunk, only Firefox and Chrome correctly
display "Browse/Catalogs/Categories".

Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

Mike Z
Glad to help.  Also be aware that there are other issues (non IE)
still persistent in trunk.  It seems that you may have to click twice
(or reload) to get a backend page to render correctly.  So if you
click something and it doesn't look correct, try a reload.

RE: Drop down menu with category and subCategory of the same problem

SkipDever
In reply to this post by BJ Freeman
Hey BJ

I just took a look at CategoryScreens.xml in the product subtree and it
looks to me like ofbiz is still using freemarker templates to render
screens.  The only differences I see are the use of groovy instead of bash
and a new "link" element.

Am I missing something?  I do not see that ftl has been "moved away from".

if you look in products/widgets (trunk or 10.4) you will see the code
that generates screens and menus. also the data is martialed in the
groovy files, either called out in the Widget or in the web-inf/action
folder with the name of the ftl file, defined in the widget.
The look and feel of these screens are controlled by the code in the
themes folder.
so if you want to change functionality work with the widgets.
if you want you own look and feel then create a new theme.

hope that helps

Re: Drop down menu with category and subCategory of the same problem

BJ Freeman
In reply to this post by SkipDever
Skip if you look at the code you will see that is does not follow the
pattern used now. Yes the widget call the Ftl when you need the power of
ftl when widget will not do the job.

the "moved away from" reference is from the ver 3.0 to ver 4.0 where the
decorator of widget then the themes were added so the functionality of
"screens" was done in widgets, with the code for laying out the data
left in the sometimes left in FTL's.

David brings up that using only FTL only in eccomerce, this is the first
time I have heard this on either mailing list or documentation,so I
learned something.

Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

Mike Z
In reply to this post by Jacques Le Roux
Hey Jacques.  I re-tested the "double click" or "reload" issue based
on your below comment..

https://mail.google.com/mail/?shva=1#label/ofbiz.user/12df9ffd16ac8e9f

The reload issue is that if you (in the backend) keep hitting reload
(after the screen completely renders), while displaying product detail
(for instance):

https://localhost/catalog/control/EditProduct?productId=GZ-2644

After a few clicks, the product appears blank, possibly(?) related to
a cache expiration.

Between IE, FF, and Chrome, it appears that Chrome (haven't tested
Safari or Opera) is  only browser that seems to work correctly in the
backend (trunk).

Findings:
IE:  It NOW doesn't have the "reload" or "double click" problem, but
still doesn't render the Catalog list.
FF: Still has the reload issue, but does render the Catalog list correctly.
Chrome: Seems to work fine.

I hope this helps others.

? Get nowhere for me (actually to my gmail account with "label:ofbiz.user" not interpreted (it seems))

This is interesting... with FF?

I tested Opera and Safari, they worked fine.
I fear it's related to some CSS or/and javascript issue, still not sure though...

Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

Hi Mike,

Just to be clear, are you talking about Jira issues https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-4149 and https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/OFBIZ-4150?

Thanks

Paul Foxworthy

Are you using IE?  It hasn't worked correctly now for about a month
(trunk).  For the latest trunk, only Firefox and Chrome correctly
display "Browse/Catalogs/Categories".

Yes, I've observed this (today's trunk) in FF, but not IE|Chrome.

Paul, yes, I guess this (the non display of Browse Catalog/Catagories)
is related to those two Jira issues, but the reload issue is not.

The reload issue is kinda freaky.  You click a product found, and up
shows a blank product, but not always.  Click reload, and there is is.

I attached a screenshot.

Re: New Catalog not getting display in the list

Jacques Le Roux
Administrator
Mike,

If not already done, could you please open a Jira for the product issue, describing the issue, steps to reproduce and if possible
URL

Thanks

Jacques
