New Wiki/Docs Location

David E. Jones-2

The content from docs.ofbiz.org has been moved to the official ASF server:

http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/dashboard.action

All of the OFBiz spaces look like they are imported and in place. From the Dashboard page just look for the "OFBiz ..." spaces. I renamed them so all 5 of them would be together in the list.

I was able to remove the older spaces that Gavin setup for us a LONG time ago, so we just have the imported ones.

The permissions should also be set so these are writable again.

However, permissions are probably a bit messed up since only people with accounts on the new server, with the same username, will have permissions retained.

For all committers: please send me and email with your username on cwiki.apache.org and I'll add you to the ofbiz-committers group so you'll have write access again.

For other who had permissions: if you find you're not able to edit something that you used to be able to, please let me know (and please send your cwiki.apache.org username when you do).

To Jacques and Tim and others who helped: thank you for making this happen!

-David

Re: New Wiki/Docs Location

No problemo.  Now we need to update our site to be able to search the
right stuff from ofbiz.apache.org now that this is complete.  Also, we
need to get a theme back in place now that this upgrade is done ...
Not sure if I'll be able to get to this this week, but we should do it
really soon.

Why when I click that link below does it make me walk a directory tree
before coming to a home page?  Is that a problem where I went to the
wrong spot or is this normal?  Where can I send the form submission
for our search from the ofbiz.apache.org/index page?

Cheers,
Ruppert

Re: New Wiki/Docs Location

There is a funny thing with cwiki.apache.org if you go there directly. To get to confluence you have to go to cwiki.apache.org/confluence (in other words it's not mounted on the root, I think because they have generated/exported html page directories mounted on root).

Where to send searches is a good question! Here is the basic URL:

http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/dosearchsite.action?queryString=ofbiz

It would be nice to search in all 5 spaces, but I'm not sure if it supports it... I tried a bunch of variations but could only successfully search one space, like this:

http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/dosearchsite.action?queryString=ofbiz&where=OFBADMIN

That searches the OFBADMIN space, which might be the best to search from the home page... but I'm not sure about that... we could just search all spaces, but then we'd have things from other projects show up... so, I dunno.

Yeah - I was planning on just sending the search to the /confluence/ root which searches all of them - which is definitely an issue.  I think that longer term, we're going to want to push this all into OFBiz and maybe we can manage the search with an integration into Confluence or something - just something we can control more easily.

Anyways, Let's keep refining this - for now, I'm going to fix all of the docs.ofbiz.org references and we'll see where we can go from there.

Thanks David,

I have updated the related infra Jira issue with your message. Gavin asked about information there.

I have also asked Gavin if it could be possible to import Crowds account from Contegix. Then everything would be fine without having
to worry about updating them. Notably if it would be possible we would not have any problems with history and ownership (private
spaces) which are making me worry a bit. Could you please have a look at the related infra issue ?

Yes it seems that we are only able to filter one space when searching. I tried some syntax variations with "where" but found nothing so far. Any answers either here

On the other hand, if we group all in one space, this could have the benefit to force us to better organize things...

To All,

Issue closed : the ASF don't use Crowd. So if you want to keep your account on the new wiki you will have to create your own account
(using the same id than before sounds like a good idea) and in case of problems follow David's advices below

Yes this URL works well as soon as you have created your favourite spaces

Also here is a recipe Gavin game me to create your favourite spaces and use them in search

1. Add whatever spaces you want to search in to your favorite spaces. Browse http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/dashboard.action and
click on the 'Star' besides any spaces to add.( or whilst in a space click on Tools > Favorite). (The star should go yellow)
2. Click in the search box and press enter to get the advanced search. (Which should bring you to
http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/dosearchsite.action?queryString=)
3. Type in your search term then choose 'Favorite Spaces' from the 'Where' drop down box.
4. Click on filter.
Results from only the spaces you have added to favorites will be shown.

Personnaly I have also added th 5 spaces as watches to receive everyday a summary of changes in these space. This also build you a
correct dashboard (My Dashboard). I see also a possibility to create team spaces. For instance, Geronimo has a dozen of spaces.

First thanks to all who put effort in the community infrastructure,
invaluable for the project!

I agree on moving to a single space and make it more structured and
accessible for (potential) Ofbiz users. I was not able to find the content
of the docbooks on the wiki either which is a shame because potential users
might want to read and browse documentation before giving it at try. It also
provides a great collaboration platform.

Hey Guys - just wondering if you guys had thought about 301 redirecting
from the old wiki to the new wiki as I am sure there are a bunch of
links out there that point to the old urls?

Cheers

the docbook documents are in your local copy or in the ofbiz demo site:
for logged in users:
https://localhost:8443/content/control/showContent?contentId=APACHE_OFBIZ_HTML
for not logged in users via the cmssite:
http://localhost:8080/cmssite/cms/APACHE_OFBIZ_HTML

Moreover I don't think we will refactor all the documentation now that we have a workaround to search in all spaces at a time.
Of course if you are ready to help restructuring the documentation this would be much appreciated...

There is still this an issue when searching in OFBIZ space (for instance look for faq), but I guess it's an index issue and will be
fixed, I have asked the infra team for that...

Yes we have plenty of it :(
http://docs.ofbiz.org/dosearchsite.action?queryString=docs.ofbiz.org&where=conf_global&type=&lastModified=&contributor=&contributorUsername=

This should not be and all these links should have used the wiki internal notation for links
http://docs.ofbiz.org/renderer/notationhelp.action#help-section-div-links

One easy way though would be to redirect http://docs.ofbiz.org to http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence

What do you think?

Re: New Wiki/Docs Location

samhamilton
Hi Jacques,

Having a look on what google has indexed of docs.ofbiz.org there are
7,710 pages / links that might need redirecting to the new site (depends
what you guys think are critical?).
http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&safe=off&newwindow=1&q=site%3Adocs.ofbiz.org&meta=&aq=&oq=site%3Adocs.ofbiz.org&fp=7bd14d1a33372cda
Confluence seems to be doing some 301ing already as google has the
following page docs.ofbiz.org/x/JR4 but it goes to
http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/~jaz/Permissions+By+Application - was that
something to do with the version upgrade?

There also seems to be a bunch of pages that google has that point to
random places if you have a look at
http://www.google.co.uk/#hl=en&safe=off&newwindow=1&q=site%3Awww.ofbiz.org&meta=&aq=f&oq=site%3Awww.ofbiz.org&fp=7bd14d1a33372cda
there are https wiki pages but on https://www.ofbiz.org?

A .htaccess file could do the trick but I am guessing it might be more
complicated than this example as there are different spaces etc.

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteRule (.*) http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OFBIZ/$1
[R=301,L]

Cheers
Sam

Re: New Wiki/Docs Location

In reply to this post by samhamilton
it would be almost impossible since we used tiny URLs to do much of
the external linking and those all changed.  As for the others - I'll
put something in place that does:

/OFBIZ/* -> http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/OFBIZ/*

and the same for the other spaces.  If someone knows those mappings
already - please just let me know and I'll get them up there ASAP.

Cheers,
Ruppert
