OFBIZ manual??

Hi all,
I am trying to understand what ofbiz is, its uses and capabilities. I have been messing around with it for about a year or two, on and off. I have tried understading it from the end user point of view, but the interface is too complicated and have to spend days trying to do something trivial that I can do in seconds in my proprietary wms, like adding a test order to the system, in many cases I have get java errors that only the devs should be able to see and they are unrecoverable. I need some help getting to some documentation on how to use the product, as I am evaluating to use it as a wms platform. but I can not use it out of the box for my purposes, since it seems very unpolished and buggy. Maybe you could elaborate a bit more on the use-cases you're trying to achieve and the issues you're experiencing? If you do google search for ofbiz documentation this is one of the links. It has URL to development help and end user help. There are several books available depending upon what you need help with. This list is excellent source of help as well. I am new to Ofbiz (3 months now). I found it a bit overwhelming at first, but it is pretty easy to make it do what you need. The platform itself is very rich. You can do special projects easily using a ant create command. It is built on tomcat, so out of the box you get a bunch of components (like you mentioned you probably want to wrap them in your own front end if you wish to simplify and control errors). I can tell you I almost never get errors any more running the app, so you get used to the order of which things need to be set up. As mentioned Sharon has some good books on accounting and MRP from a user standpoint. Ruth has a good dev book (work book, but I found it very helpful). The platform has FTL (freemarker) and widgets (XML) for front end and minilang, java, and groovy for back end. In 3 months I have done a front end allowing my users to work with inventory using a much simpler interface (I did not re-write any of the services for the most part; just adjusted the frontend and messages etc). I created an EDI app that uses configuration from files (Ofbiz has a great entity engiine, easy to add data on first load and add tables to the data base). My best advice is to pick up a few of the books (I really like the accounting one by Sharon as it takes you step by step on how to configure the system). I did not buy any books the first month or so (with the exception of the cook book by Ruth Hoffman), and I found it very hard to understand all the components, their relationship to each other. I thought I was seeing things. I read most of the pages when I first started and I could see great strides at least without seeing side by side what I saw the first time.
Fir example I was referred to the security model documentation and I think you must have updated that page it was great. Maybe I just understand it better, but I don't recall it having examples in FTL and XML etc. It was very clear and helpful today.

I am trying to use it to create a warehouse management platform, pick/pack/ship, possibly edi?? Let me know if anubody can point me to specific literature I should be reading for that, for users and devs, or if anybody has had any experience with this.. Thanks all. I will be happy to help with the EDI part I wrote. It is not part of the release, but if you get to where you need it let me know. Some folks suggested a more comprehensive system, mine allows for the config of separate suppliers using edi tables (header, section, field) and can FTP the out put. So while you may not use it as is it might help in regards to how to fire up FTP etc. The suggestions were to include logging and regular nightly transfers. I did something like that at my last job, but this job is specifically for food, and it was determined ti was better to get real time confirmation the EDI file transfered. So it just has a send button, no scheduling.
