All,
I'm pleased to announce the go live of www.1800fishoil.com. This is a OFBiz / BigFish implementation, using many of the standard BigFish features available. The UI was created by the 1800FishOil UI designers, and after products were loaded into the catalog the configurations were also handled by 1800FishOil tech staff. Salmon's role was relatively minimal, for me this is a good indication that what we tried to achieve in building the BigFish platform was accomplished. Take a look at the site, it's simple but effective for their mission. -- Best Regards, Nick Rosser [hidden email] O: 516.742.7888 x221 C: 516.901.1720 |
Nice site Nick. Can you tell me if they use the full back-end ERP
capabilities of ofbiz, like general ledger, accounting, etc? I noticed that when I loaded the BigFish demo, none of these items seem to be enabled. I found that you are using dash (-) in the name while creating urls. For
eg: http://www.1800fishoil.com/online/shop/coconut-oil/jarrow-formulas-extra-virgin-coconut-oil Could you tell us how r u doing that. Are you using urlrewriter (tuckey) for that ? Also, for the dashes did you write any servlet or in ftl you are first replacing all spaces to dash? Mike,
Yes, there is a full ERP side to this solution as well. Complete Order Management, Shipping, Picking, Inventory, Facilities, Returns, Receiving, Refunds, and many special processes to handle recurring 3-monthly orders. Everything except accounting (most of our larger clients have a standard accounting package like Great Plains -- we feed into that). A little more background: We've been working with this client for many years. We implemented a custom OFBiz / ERP solution for them for brand "x" -- a solution that is used by up to 100 customer service reps every day. Manages all aspects of their business -- a bet-your-business solution. The next step was to develop a custom eComm site for brand "X", this has been live for a couple of years now. Enter BigFish -- for brand "FishOil" (the fish connection is purely coincidental!). We re-used their ERP solution from brand "x" in it's entirety, styled for "fishoil". Hooked up the BigFish platform for the eComm solution and everything played very nicely. The keys are that both BigFish and our custom ERP solution use OOTB OFBiz features. It was amazingly smooth.
