Do any documents exist that show step-by-step instruction of ofbiz
suitable to be used to train employees on ofbiz screens and procedures, and ERP workflow? For instance, purchase a product using the ecommerce module, go to the order manager, verify that x exists, etc. Go to the accounting manager, click y, verify x is posted... etc. Thanks |

I think the best so far from this POV is at http://www.myofbiz.com
Yes, it's OFBiz powered! Yes. I've bought a few books from Ruth [grin]. I'm waiting for the
accounting book, but it doesn't seem to be available yet. Hi All:
Thanks for the kind words! Sharan is writing the accounting guide/book and she does not feel like its ready for prime time. Unfortunately for us (but good for her) she got a "real" job and hasn't been able to work on it in recent weeks. Maybe she will find time to comment here on her progress. I still want to write some end-user level training courses for some of the more basic back-end business functions such as order entry and accounting, but I just haven't had the time. I'm hopeful that I'll be able to start on some of that after ApacheCon. Again, thanks so much for your support! It really does keep me motivated and drives me to build better products. Ruth, I too have appreciated those books and am waiting on the
accounting book. :-) Just a suggestion, the books are very heavy on graphics, which 1) increases the time to produce, 2) requires more bandwidth to download and store, and 3) makes them rather quickly fall out of date (like the current 4.0 series that came out after 9.04 was released, and the 9.04 update that perhaps barely preceeds the 10.04 release). Some of the walking us through the screens is invaluable, but some of it may be overkill too. That correct balance is probably different for everyone. I think a little bit heavier on "this is how to approach the problem" and "here are some of the variables in the business model you might want to consider", especially where OFBiz diverges from or modifies Silverston, and a little lighter on the actual screenshots might make the books even more useful, and give them a longer shelf life and easier revision cycle too. Just my 2 cents. Thanks again for some great intros to OFBiz. And I probably need to pick your brain again on some things. ;) -- Matt Warnock <[hidden email]> RidgeCrest Herbals, Inc. Yes, Sharan is working on a project and has not enough time to complete right now

Hi Matt:
Thanks much for the feedback! I've already started on another book that is more "how to". Right now, it looks something like "how to build your own OFBiz web application" with the ultimate goal being a tutorial style book that documents the bulk mail application (sending email to contact lists) that I mentioned some time ago. I plan to include everything from screen shots to code. (But not too many screen shots since there aren't that many screens involved.) Also, plenty of discussion of the data model, Services and the pros/cons of different strategies used to make decisions about why I did what I did. I was going to try and have a first pass at this by ApacheCon, but something has come up which may keep me very busy for the next few months. Anyhow, thanks again. I really do appreciate you taking the time to tell me what you think. I don't plan to stop writing about OFBiz anytime soon!
