[OFBiz] Users - WHAT IS ROLE OF USETRANSACTION ATTRIBUTE IN SERVICE DEFINITION???

Hi,
Can anyone please help me find out the role of use-transaction
attribute in service definition.
I'd also like to know whether the services are synchronised ie thread
safe. Any clarification on these issues will be of gr8 help to me
