hi All,
I have a client that require an Enterprise Portal (CMS) with ERP. I already use OFBiz. I am planning to use Liferay. What is the best way to integrate these two systems. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Regards |
Hi,
you can make a RMI or web service call to integrate both. http://ws.apache.org/xmlrpc/
Before few days I have used this project for a client to communicate with OFBiz services. It is very light weight and efficient if performance measure is concerned. -- Ashish On Sat, May 23, 2009 at 12:31 PM, farouk alhassan <[hidden email]>wrote: > hi All, > I have a client that require an Enterprise Portal (CMS) with ERP. Thanks Ashish.
I was thinking I could deploy one in the other so I do not have to rewrite the whole OFBiz view again since that will make me loose a lot of the OOTB features. Hello Farouk,
We have integrated ofbiz with liferay using ofbiz services. I think you can reuse most of the code. We've used pluto in the past - http://portals.apache.org/pluto/ - but I'm not sure of it's CMS capabilities OOTB. Also, you should try searching the mailing list archives - I'm pretty sure I remember someone else doing this.

Hi Tim
I searched the forum and found some discussion but the discussion was left hanging without a conclusion. Did you deploy OFBiz into Pluto or the other way around? If you are thinking to deploy one into another then don't do this.
Let's keep both the system separate otherwise you will come into messed up situation soon IMO. Think good about it and lets discuss your plan in detail with the community. I am sure community members too will suggest you to keep both the system separate. Just curious to know about one thing, why don't you plan to use OFBiz OOTB and update its CMS feature as per your requirements. I will be more then happy to see contribution from you in CMS area. WDYT ? Hi Ash
That is actually very interesting because this is what I should actually do since that will add to the features of OFBiz so we can all benefit. Also the time spent in manipulating and porting another CRM implementation can be invested in OFBiz. OK if I wanted to do it, how much work do you think will be involved since somework have already been done on this. Hello Farouk,
It depends, as for now few questions are coming in my mind. -- What are your your custom requirements ? -- How many resource / developers do you have ? -- How much time do you have ? I haven't played too much with OFBiz CMS so I can't help you by saying what is exists OOTB. First you share your requirements then based on the above questions someone who has worked on CMS area in the community can help you to get estimate on the work that needs to be done. Thanks ! -- Ashish farouk alhassan wrote: > Hi Ash > That is actually very interesting because this is what I should actually do since that will add to the features of OFBiz so we can all benefit. Hi Ashish, 1. I have a client who wants Business Management software to manage (project management, Accounting, Marke ) his business and corporate website for public access. I am thinking of using using OFBiz for the Business management by excluding the ecommerce, catalog and the other ecommerce related applications. For the website which he wants to update quite frequently with current projects and News I need a CMS system. That is why I am looking at Liferay since I use Liferay for this site www.dipwatch.com and on our internal network. 2. I am a one man army 3. For the purpose of only this community work, I can commit 5 hours a week till it is all done. All the work done though will be shared as you all do.
