I'm trying to create a simple sales order for testing purposes.
I create an order with qty 4 of GZ-1000. I click Quick Finalize Order. I leave the shipping address blank because it's a customer pick up, I click No Shipping under shipping method, and I click COD as the payment method. When I click "Continue to Final Order Review" I get a The Following Errors Occurred: Please Select a Shipping Destination. error message. If I go back and select a shipping destination, then the "No Shipping" shipping method choice goes away. No combination of choices will get me out of this screen and I'm stuck. Any ideas? -Adrian |
I think you need a shipping destination even for "No Shipping"
shipping method. It is needed for tax calculations. If the user don't have a shipping address, you have to use "New Address" link from Quick Finalize Order screen to create one. Then first you have to choose the shipping address, then shipment method and finally the payment method(all through radio buttons in Quick Finalize Order screen). Hope this helps. When I do that and click "Continue to Final Order Review" I get this
message: The Following Errors Occurred: A problem occurred calculating shipping. Fees will be calculated offline. -Adrian Bilgin Ibryam wrote: > I think you need a shipping destination even for "No Shipping" shipping > method. I never use this method, that's why didn't track this error message. ---------------------------------------------------------------- This message was sent using IMP, the Internet Messaging Program. |

Yes, this is a problem in my view. If NO_SHIPPING is picked, the address of
the facility should be automatically used. I intend to make it so shortly. Good idea! I was thinking no address at all, but the address of the
facility would make more sense. -Adrian skip@thedevers wrote: > Yes, this is a problem in my view. As mentioned, you need an address for sales tax calculation, so no address
works only if you pick an address to do the tax calculation. Might as well be the facility address. -----Original Message----- From: Adrian Crum [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 4:06 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: Order Entry Question Good idea! For tax calculation? I believe there are legal guidelines for this sort of thing... and if there is no shipping address then the customer's billing address should be used. It seems like using the company's (vendor's) ship-from address would be problematic... On the other hand, if I remember right digital goods (or other non- shipped products) are sometimes not taxed, so you should check into that. -David On May 13, 2008, at 6:25 PM, skip@thedevers wrote: > As mentioned, you need an address for sales tax calculation, so no > address > works only if you pick an address to do the tax calculation. David
I think we are talking about different things. I was talking about over the counter sales (no shipping). Were I live, a will-call is taxed at the point of sale. Thats why I suggested the facility address. It could very well be different in other locations, but I shouldn't think that it would be the customers billing address. I know for a fact that if I buy something in California with me standing at the counter for example, I will be expected to pay the California sales tax rather than my own local Washington sales tax. If I ship something out of state, I am expected to pay the sales tax in the destination jurisdiction. Washington authorities are miffed that their residents frequently drive to Oregon to get a lower sales tax rate. -----Original Message----- From: David E Jones [mailto:[hidden email]] Sent: Tuesday, May 13, 2008 6:44 PM To: [hidden email] Subject: Re: Order Entry Question For tax calculation?
