PayPal Invoice as a Ecommerce payment system

this is used in Service industry mre
where you send an email with you paypal invoice the client pays thru
paypal and you get and email the invoice was paid.
I want to expand this to a payment system like IPN but more like a check
or money order as far as how it is treated.

any input?
