By default, does OFBiz allow the adding of a phone number as an Order
Contact Mechanism? If I manually insert a record to link the order to a phone number, the "Find Order" screen renders it as I expected it to. Sure, I could go thru Party, but for reporting purposes, it just makes more sense to have the phone number as a form of contact for an order. Thanks. I guess what I'm asking is: How do I do it in the interface?

The impression that I get from your response is that you think I'm
trying to customize the app to do this. I want to know if this functionality is available OOTB. Is there a config file to enable/configure such functionality? How does the app decide which party contact mechs to add as order contact mechs? Thanks. Hash: SHA1 sounds like you want a particular contact to be associated with a particular order. this is assuming someone logins in. if you have multiple people that are from the same organization, then it is best to have a party group for the organization then have a PartyID for each that order. this is the only OOTB type that would satisfy your requirement. Hash: SHA1 the phone number will be in the party linked to the order. there is no way at this time to link to a specific phone number in a party if they have more than one. However you have Contact Purposes https://demo.hotwaxmedia.com/partymgr/control/editcontactmech?partyId=DemoCustomer1&contactMechId=9020 that lets you determine which phone number to use.
