QuickBooks Error 7149 typically occurs when there is an issue with the QuickBooks Database Server Manager. This error can prevent you from opening your company file and using QuickBooks. To resolve Error 7149, you can follow these troubleshooting steps:

Solution 1: Update QuickBooks

Make sure you have the latest version of QuickBooks installed. If not, update it to the latest release.

Solution 2: Run QuickBooks Database Server Manager

Close QuickBooks on all workstations.
On the server or the computer where the company file is stored, press the Windows key and type "Database Server Manager." Open the QuickBooks Database Server Manager.
In the Database Server Manager, click the "Scan Folders" tab.
Click the "Add Folder" button and browse to the folder where your QuickBooks company file is located. Then, click "OK."
Click the "Scan" button to start the scanning process. This will allow QuickBooks to locate and configure the company files on the server.
After the scan is complete, try to open your company file again.

Solution 3: Restart the QuickBooks Database Server Manager Service

Press the Windows key and type "Services" to open the Services application.
Scroll down to find "QuickBooksDBXX" (XX represents the year or version of QuickBooks) in the list of services.
Right-click on "QuickBooksDBXX" and select "Restart." If it's not running, choose "Start" to start the service.
Close the Services application.
Solution 4: Repair QuickBooks

Close QuickBooks and any other running applications.
Press the Windows key and type "Control Panel." Open the Control Panel.
Go to "Programs" or "Programs and Features."
Find QuickBooks in the list of installed programs, select it, and click "Repair" or "Uninstall/Change." Follow the on-screen instructions to repair the installation.
After the repair is complete, restart your computer and try opening your company file again.
