I first set up a system in mid-2008 based on trunk as it was then, and
never had any trouble sending email. That system is still sending
mail. Systems since then also send email.
From memory, all I needed to do was make sure the right config files
had the right settings, so ofbiz could find an outgoing SMTP server
that was reliable.
If you're having problems, don't forget to check the logs of your
chosen SMTP server.
