Scanner/RFID and barcodes for warehouse mangement?

J
Hello,

I have been reading and learning more about OFBiz.

I know that it can to warehouse management where i can keep track of
items based on location with in the warehouse.

I also found a few references to scanners for the POS part of the software.

Is the scanner feature available in the warehosue management to scan in
and out items?

Can pallets be scanned, as well as items?

Last question about warehouse management:

As items are added and removed from the warehouse, is the a way to move
boxes from one pallet to another in order to consolidate products and
remove unneeded pallets from the warehouse, and avoid having 1 box per
pallet, for example?

Thanks for the feed back.

Joseph

Hi Joseph ,

A Scanner is just like a keyboard and it needs no special treatment in
management
software. An inputbox of the software automatically gets filled with data
which is encoded
in  labels. (QR or Barcode) when the scanner laser is pointed to a printed
barcode or QR code.
Its like as-if someone typed into the box.

Sorry it attempts to answers  your question partially only as I have not
explored warehouse functions
much yet.

Hello

OK, so the basic founctions should work with out too much effort.

But, when we are in the warehouse, it will not be connected directly to
the computer.  Are any scanners known to have been working with OFBiz?

AS well, I asked about bvenig able t scan the location, and the item.

Pallet

product

I understand that you can assign products to a given location. But, can
a scanner be set up to force the person picking the order to confirm
where it came form an dwhat it is?

Thanks

Joseph

Re: Scanner/RFID and barcodes for warehouse mangement?

Hi

You can interact with OFBiz using APIs ( SOAP , RPCXML etc).
A handheld device can interact with Application server in LAN or WAN
using HTTP or any protocol.

The Application server can achieve whatever it wants  by
issuing commands to OFBiz server. Around 3600 web services are
available in OFBiz for integration.

When you say location "within warehouse" , by location do you mean
lat/long or some kind of locally assigned symbolic locations?

Sorry i cannot very much understand the pallet part!
