Not really new. Netbeans and Sun Java Studio Creator are two really good
competitors against Eclipse. Netbeans got free UML modelization through a plugin
for example. Sun Java Studio Creator helps creating easily JSR168 portlets with
JSF and WSDL (works are done in ASPERIENCE on these technologies and the better
tool found is this one).
