I don't really have experience with ActiveMQ, but chances are it has a JMS implementation and as long as you have the JMS library for ActiveMQ setup in OFBiz you can just use it with the current JMS support in the service engine.
If you don't like that approach or they have no JMS interface, then you can use the JMS support in the service engine as a example of how to integrate an asynchronous message service with the OFBiz Service Engine.
