There are several classes of antiemetic treatment

HV
An antiemetic is a medication used to prevent or treat nausea and vomiting. These medications work by blocking signals to the brain that trigger vomiting or by acting directly on the stomach or intestines to calm them.

Antiemetics are commonly used in various situations, including:

Chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting: Chemotherapy drugs can cause severe nausea and vomiting in cancer patients. Antiemetics are often prescribed before chemotherapy sessions to prevent these symptoms, as well as during and after treatment if needed.

Post-operative nausea and vomiting (PONV): Nausea and vomiting can occur after surgery due to the effects of anesthesia and other factors. Antiemetics may be given before or after surgery to prevent or treat PONV.

Motion sickness: Antiemetics can help alleviate nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness, such as seasickness or car sickness.

Gastrointestinal disorders: Conditions such as gastroenteritis, gastritis, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) can cause nausea and vomiting. Antiemetics may be used to relieve these symptoms in some cases.

Pregnancy-related nausea and vomiting (morning sickness): Certain antiemetics are considered safe for use during pregnancy and can help alleviate nausea and vomiting in pregnant women.
