URL Creation best practice which forward slash to remove

going through the Ecommerce Emails
I am getting a double forward slash //
https://localhost#47;ecommerce/control//orderstatus?orderId=
This is due to
a forward slash after
                <set field="baseEcommerceSecureUrl"
value="${baseSecureUrl}/ecommerce/control/"/>
then the forward slash before the URL
/orderstatus?orderId=

so which forward slash should be removed?
