H Every one ......... I am not sure when this post are made and Is there a Solution for the same but i am really facing this problem from long time and i tried to fix it in different ways but couldnot come out with a solution as stated the problem is only with Windows and not linusx iam specifically using the Windows Xp box....... Please give me solution for this..... hey i am not sure if this is the same problem, but i too had real trouble with this port my linux machine. i changed port 1099 to 10990 in the config file and then did ant build. It is working for me henceforth. Maybe you could try this and see what happens. Also you may like to search docs for port 1099 on the wiki website.

if you check the OFBizBasicProductionSetup.pdf on the ofbiz site,
it will show you what the port is for and what can be done. Also use a port checker to see what ports are being used by other processes. I am running the latest SVN on Windows XP with no problem. It might be the Nat or part of the ICS that is causing the problem. I have mine turned off. As was suggested have you proven the port is already in use? Run
"netstat -an" in a dos box and that will list the ports in use and if 1099 is not listed then the problem is elsewhere, if it is listed then I suggest you download some simple freeware tool that lists the applications using which ports and then you can decide if the port can be freed. As also suggested run this after restarting your machine to ensure no rouge processes are hanging around, also I have found in the past that other applications like browsers work there way through ports from the lower end over time. One other possible problem I fell for myself recently that was showing as a port error on start up was running OFBiz using JDK 1.5 rather than 1.4. Several restarts and port scans later, that were coming up clear, I woke up to the fact that I had not set the Java home and system path to use the JDK 1.4 version. If you want to change the port then search the wiki for something like "multiple instances" and you should find some helpful pages about changing ports. It does sound like perhaps you have a firewall which is stopping you from binding to the port (SP2). But that wouldn't explain why you get the error even after commenting out the RMI stuff. I take it you don't have anything using that port then? You appear to be
doing some of the tests suggested but not clearly feeding back what you did and the results just leaving it for us to interpret. The more clear accurate information you can provide the quicker you are likely to get an issue resolved. Even a small post of the output from netstat -an might help. Do you have local administrator privileges? Or are you running on a tight corporate network that has everything locked down for everyone including developers. What versions of Java do you have installed? JRE, JDK, 1.4, 1.5??? What path and environment variables are getting set up for you? I'm not specifically aware of anyone not being able to run OFBiz just because they are using SP2. I'm not really sure why you have this problem, but until someone can give you a better answer, there is one other thing that you could check... About 2 years ago, I had a similar error (on linux), it turned out that it was because the /etc/hosts file was not properly set up. Perhaps you should have a look at your hosts file on your windows box. As a linux user, I can't remember exactly where this is, but I think it's around... c:\...\System32\Drivers Obviously, it should have an entry for localhost in there. It's a long shot, but until someone can suggest something better, perhaps you should check this. two more things come to mind.
one is that there is an other error, I believe it had todo with connecting the database. or JTOM, that gave this error. suggest turning on the debug to verbose. another is to see in the XP task manager if tnamesrver is terminating when you terminate ofbiz. And do not install OFBiz in a path containing blanks, for example:
c:\Program files\OFBIZ is a bad choice that will cause a lot of *strange* issues.
