Is it possible to set up and allow more applications
under version control and more community based commit privilages either in the ofbiz repository or another one? Obviously anyone can create their own svn repository and share, but I'm thinking one that's more ofbiz community focused. One that is similar to the svn repository that ofbiz currently uses but that is a bit more free in granting commit privilages to distribute some of the burden and make it easier to share approaches. Especially in applications that build off of Ofbiz as opposed to changing the core or outer core of Ofbiz. Can we put it to a vote? Or does a vote matter as it does entail resources? ===========David Jones wrote: I agree with Daniel on this, even these less than sure contributions can certainly have a place. The best place to put these sorts of changes is in Jira new feature "issues". If you don't feel your patch is up to snuff, but it is helpful for you, just write out your thoughts. These sorts of patches may not make it into the project right away, but what would be _ideal_ for these and all patches is for people to try them out and comment on them, and where possible improve them. I guess the main point with this sort of thing is that you never know where it will go... We've tried out all sorts of things over the years. Some have been thrown out (yeah, many tens of thousands of lines of code) and others have blossomed and fit together in ways we never even expected... all because through wide collaboration ideas can flow more freely and lots of people reviewing something will come up with stuff that is a lot better than any individual could ever come up with. -David _______________________________________________ Users mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.ofbiz.org/mailman/listinfo/users |
This sort of thing already exists in the "specialized" directory. These are meant to be applications or components that sit on OFBiz, and those who contribute the original code plus those who want to work on them are given commit privileges. These are less controlled than the core OFBiz code and are not really kept up to date or maintained unless the original author or others using it do so. Well, I guess that's a kind of silly thing to say because that is true of pretty much all of OFBiz... ;) The most active one right now is the Open Travel System that Hans Bakker has written and maintains. -David On Feb 4, 2006, at 1:54 PM, Chris Howe wrote: > Is it possible to set up and allow more applications > under version control and more community based commit > privilages either in the ofbiz repository or another > one? I have made a test page in Web tools
it is for customer confidence and real time testing for the developer. Each link on the main page goes to test for a particular area, such as UPS, and USPS. some test forms have default info to test a section. I don't see this as a specialized thing, but more a Jira. Question, I would like submit each test page as a separate JIRA and let the person fold it into their web tools, is this kosher? _______________________________________________ Users mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.ofbiz.org/mailman/listinfo/users |
BJ, Jira seems like a good place for these so people can review them. Because of the volume of issues going through Jira I'd rather see these in one issue unless there are so many that this would be cumbersome, and in that case perhaps grouping them somehow would be better. -David On Feb 6, 2006, at 3:53 PM, bjfree wrote: > I have made a test page in Web tools > it is for customer confidence and real time testing for the developer. > Each link on the main page goes to test for a particular area, such as > UPS, and USPS. > > some test forms have default info to test a section. > > > I don't see this as a specialized thing, but more a Jira. > > Question, I would like submit each test page as a separate JIRA and > let > the person fold it into their web tools, is this kosher? > > > > _______________________________________________ > Users mailing list > [hidden email] > http://lists.ofbiz.org/mailman/listinfo/users _______________________________________________ Users mailing list [hidden email] http://lists.ofbiz.org/mailman/listinfo/users smime.p7s (3K) Download Attachment |
