[VOTE] Approve Release Test Snapshot (aka 4.0.0 TS2)

David E Jones-2
This is the vote to approve the 4.0.0 TS2 "release", which is really
a "Test Snapshot" to test the release process and legal artifacts and
such. The files we are voting on are the second pass, now using the
"TS2" suffix as this is the second pass and the TS instead of RC to
clarify that this is a Test Snapshot more than a traditional Release
Candidate (which has clearly been confusing for quite a few people).

The main reason for this second pass is that there were a few old
Copyright statements hanging around that have now been taken care of.
So, we're restarting the vote.

To reiterate, the main things we need to review for this test
snapshot are:

1. PGP signature (.asc) and MD5 checksum (.md5) file validity
2. Proper license headers, NOTICE, and LICENSE files
3. Basic unarchive and run success

This is not meant to be a release in the traditional sense with a
branch, testing cycles, and so on, and is not meant to be a reference
point or used by end-users. It is an important part of the incubation
process for OFBiz at the ASF and after we approach a test snapshot
release we will submit it to the larger incubator community and the
incubator board for review.

Please note that everyone is welcome to vote, but only PPMC members
have "binding" votes. We'll leave this open until at least the end of
day on Monday to give people the weekend plus some work week time to
review it.

For more details on this release, including links to files to
download, see the Confluence page at:

http://docs.ofbiz.org/x/wAE

Note that the best place to download the files is from the
people.apache.org links there.

Hi David

I hate to do it to you, but I've come across couple more a couple more
copyright issues, namely the <owner> tags in the controller.xml files
and also 2 footer.ftl files under shark and webtools.  I've attached a
patch which will hopefully come through on this email.

Regards
Scott

Re: [VOTE] Approve Release Test Snapshot (aka 4.0.0 TS2)

p.s. I searched for the phrase "Open for" and checked all the
occurrences, so hopefully this should be the end of the problem.

Hi David,

on Debian Linux (Sid, AMD64) with Java 5 (1.5.0_08) and Solaris 10
(Sparc) with Java 5 (1.5.0_06) everything is fine. On both systems OFBiz
was just unzipped and untarred and started with startofbiz.sh. :)

Best regards,
Fabian.

CMS - SVN Integration

Andrew Sykes
In reply to this post by Scott Gray
Hi Folks,

(I asked this earlier on the User list, but it's probably really more of
a Dev question...)

Is there currently any way to feed content from the Content module into
an SVN server?

It would be nice to have a way to define in the Content module a
revision of the Content to publish...

If this isn't currently possible, does anyone have any comments on the
best way to do it...

Any thoughts anyone?

Re: CMS - SVN Integration

David E Jones-2

There is no CMS - SVN integration, but the Content data model and
services do have a revision management feature where a given Content
record acts as a parent content to other Content records and a root
for revision control of everything "under" it.

This was developed along with the Composite Document stuff, and you
can see examples of its use there.

We might as well get all of this cleaned up, so I'll do a TS3 later
today...
