Vote on keeping ProjectMgr in the release

Pierre Smits
Hi all,

A vote has been started to keep the PROJECTMGR component in the release.

As you might be aware of there is the intention to reduce the number of
components that will be included in the release. Currently it is intended
to only have the ecommerce component included.

The PROJECTMGR include following functionalities:

   - creating and managing projects (including GANTT charts)
   - assign phases and task to projects
   - assign resources to projects and tasks
   - enable users to write time spent on project tasks
   - approve time registrations
   - allow third parties to gain insight in project progress and to
   register requests
   - generate invoices based on time spent on projects tasks

This component is a good solution that enhances the feature set of OFBiz.

If you are using the PROJECTMGR component for managing your components,
registration of time spent on (project) tasks and subsequent invoicing,
please cast your vote. If you have implemented this component for your
customers, please vote also. Or even if you agree that this component
should be part of the feature set of OFBiz.

The vote is taking place in the dev mailing list and can be found here:

In order to cast your vote you need to be registered as a subscriber to dev
mailing list. To subscribe you must send an email to

Best regards,

Pierre Smits

Re: Vote on keeping ProjectMgr in the release

Jacopo Cappellato-4
Hi all,

in order to provide you some background information about the release process, I am sharing with you some information that I have just posted to the dev list in response to the vote thread:

"the release process that the OFBiz community is following is based on a feature freeze phase, that for the 13.07 branch started more than one year ago, during which only bug fixes are backported.
This is done in order to stabilize the branch before an official release is done. Since the "projectmgr" component has never been part of the 13.07 branch then it may be unsafe to include it now just before the release is issued. It would be better to discuss its inclusion in the upcoming new release branch where it could be stabilized and bug fixed."

Kind regards

Jacopo
