Which Steps Missing for Adding salary to a Employee in HR Module

Hi All,
I Want to add salary of a particular employee in HR module and i followed the following Steps.
Step-1: I Created a New Employee XXX.
Step-2 : Then after i go to  Globle HR Setting tab  and created the New Pay Grad and Add Salery Step
and submit  the button on  Salary Step Page.
Step-3:Then I go to Employement tab and create  New Employeement for created Employee XXX.
Step-4:Then i go to Pay History Sub Tab of Created Employeement and fill the record  of  Thru Date, Salary Step Sequence Id ,Pay GradeID , Period Type Id. and Press the update Button.
Step-5: After update the record had dissappear.
Step-6  Then after i go to Employee XXX Profile  i see that only Company name is appear in Current Employment information section but  added salary(Pay Grad) is not  appear.
                I think that some steps are missing but i could not find which steps are missing.Please help and  sort out this problem.
