I use http://izpack.org/documentation/
which is like windows installer and is java based. the I am not sure if the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License. is compatible with ASF. however I believe like other binaries they can be worked around. this would allow one link to setup. let the person installing create: Developmental Demo Production system. it would to check and download for missing pieces, like the JDK. eventually the setup would run the ant install in appropriate for their use. I see the scripts for this to be in the setup component where anyone can put scripts particular to thier interests that izpack will pull from the svn. any thoughts? ========================= BJ Freeman Strategic Power Office with Supplier Automation <http://www.businessesnetwork.com/automation/viewforum.php?f=52> Specialtymarket.com <http://www.specialtymarket.com/> Systems Integrator-- Glad to Assist Chat Y! messenger: bjfr33man |

At least I can say Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License is ASL2 compatible
http://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html#cc-sa But izpack is using 3rd libs not compatible http://izpack.org/documentation/introduction.html#rd-party-code-used-in-izpack Which is weird because of the section just above :/ http://izpack.org/documentation/introduction.html#welcome-to-izpack I can't understand how a software is using ASL2 when it embeds LGPL and such. Maybe those libs are not mandatory... If we include libraries and their appropriate licenses are we not covered? also if we did include it, would it not be something like website since it is actually installing ofbiz? > > Jacques > > From: "BJ Freeman" <[hidden email]> >> I use http://izpack.org/documentation/ >> which is like windows installer and is java based. >> the I am not sure if the >> Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported License. >> is compatible with ASF. >> however I believe like other binaries they can be worked around. >> this would allow one link to setup. >> let the person installing >> create: >> Developmental >> Demo >> Production system. >> it would to check and download for missing pieces, like the JDK. >> eventually the setup would run the ant install in appropriate for >> their use. >> I see the scripts for this to be in the setup component where anyone >> can put scripts particular to thier interests that izpack will pull >> from the svn. >> >> any thoughts? >> >> ========================= >> >> BJ Freeman >> Strategic Power Office with Supplier Automation >> <http://www.businessesnetwork.com/automation/viewforum.php?f=52> >> Specialtymarket.com <http://www.specialtymarket.com/> >> Systems Integrator-- Glad to Assist >> >> Chat Y! messenger: bjfr33man >> > > |

Yes, I thought so, but did not really check. As I wrote below, if they are not madantory, it seems OK since the claim to use ASL2 Jacques >> >> >> Which is weird because of the section just above :/ >> http://izpack.org/documentation/introduction.html#welcome-to-izpack >> >> I can't understand how a software is using ASL2 when it embeds LGPL and >> such. Else there is something wrong, remember the Selenium issue, we never got an answer... > also if we did include it, would it not be something like website since it is actually installing ofbiz? Mmm, it's simple: we can put incompatible licences in our svn repo. Else you are free to do what you want. One possible way is to use Ivy (in ant) like Erwan is doing...
