Hello everybody,
I'm new here and I'd like to try out ofbiz to see if it suits my and my customers' needs. So I've downloaded ofbiz9.04, unpacked and launched. Then I fired up my browser and started having a look around the ecommerce. My first wish was to throw away the demo catalog and other example catalogs and create a new catalog with real products. However I couldn't find how to remove the example catalogs. Then I tried to rename the company, but I couldn't find how to do this either. I headed google and searched for the end user documentation, which led me to this page http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBENDUSER/OFBiz+End+User+Docs+Home but here I can't understand where should I start from... (I was expecting a "Getting started for the end user" or such). Could you please shed some light on my path? Thanks in advance, Lucio. -- Virtual Bit di Lucio Crusca http://www.virtual-bit.com |
Hi Lucio,
I had the very same issue. There is no easy understanding to differentiate between developer docs and user docs. If you are interested in using only, start here: http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBENDUSER/Apache+OFBiz+Business+Setup+Guide for an overview and guide for setup. THis document also guide you through the setup and how to modify the demo data to make your own (do NOT delete the demo catalogue, do NOT rename the company). (BTW: I've done a translation of this business setup guide to German, so maybe you want to provide the IT one? Let me know ;-) ) Your more generic entry point would be: http://docs.ofbiz.org/display/OFBENDUSER Feel free to contact me directly for more: Customisation/localisation of tax authorities, accounting etc. ... Europe businesses are typically not at all compliant with the US configuration coming with the demo... The best is to go throug the demo data and modify/remove it to what you
want then do an ant clean-all and run-install. if you have an external database you will need to clean it manually. as a note: you can create a new catalog and replace it in the productStore through the UI https://demo904.ofbiz.org/catalog/control/EditProductStoreCatalogs?productStoreId=9000 Lucio Crusca sent the following on 7/19/2009 1:58 PM: > Hello everybody, > > I'm new here and I'd like to try out ofbiz to see if it suits my and my > customers' needs. > > So I've downloaded ofbiz9.04, unpacked and launched.
