help installing ofbiz

cosky
Hi,

centos 5.8
java - sun jdk 1.7

I am looking at a number of open source ERP solutions.  I am starting with ofbiz.  I have downloaded ofbiz-13.07.01 and unzipped it into its own directory. Looking at the download page I see a note on the side giving what seems to be simple installation guidelines ( appears that they are NOT).  I follow these steps only to get nowhere.
"
Quick start

    Java 1.7 (minimum) SDK
unpack the release file and go into the newly created directory
using the command line, build the system (with demo data) and run it with the following command:
    ant load-demo start
(on Linux and like use "./ant" rather than "ant")
point your browser to http://localhost:8080/catalog and login with username "admin" and password "ofbiz"
refer to the README file for further details
"
this does not work so why have it documented!!!

any help would be great, otherwise I move to the next in line.

By the way I have scanned many document pages even some that are not there, that are pointed to on the wiki.
Yes, I'm frustrated because if this is such a good product it would be better documented on how to install.

Hi Jerry

Can you give any more details.

When you run ./ant load-demo start  at the command line, do you see any scripts start executing?

Are you getting any error messages? If so then please include them so that we can see what is happening and maybe able to help.

Thanks
Sharan

Sharan,

Thanks for getting back to me regarding OFBiz.  Since my initial trials at getting this to work I have been out sick or so buried with other work I have not gotten to this.

I am going to be working on this and hope to have some answers for you soon.

thanks for your patience!

I ran the following command:
./ant load-demo start

it started building the application and failed.  the attached file has the output from the build.
Hope this sheds some light on my problems.

thanks,

jerry
