Look for a host that has dedicated servers for Unbutu, CentoS V
the lowest one I found goes for about $90 a month.
if you want more control of your sever, like:
• remote power off/on
•  hardware Firewall,
• Intel Core2 Quad, 2.66GHz, 6MB Cache
• 500GB SATA II Enterprise Hard Drive
• 2GB DDR2-800 SDRAM
• 3,000GB Monthly Transfer
• 100Mbps Non-Capped Network Connection
• 4 IP Addresses
then you can expect about $145 a month.

Re: how to host the ofbiz server

so only for ecommerce hosting is it a good idea to go with ofbiz when other
ecommerce hosting platform (e.g oscommerce) cost less than $5 for month?
can somebody please provide a comparison between php platform-ecommerce and
ofbiz and is it beneficial in the long run?

I really depends on your requirements for ecommerce application.
there is no comparison between ofbiz and oscommerce.

For light duty, you may not need a dedicated server, and virtual
hardware might suffice.  I use Linode for several other services, but
have not put OFbiz on it, as I will host that locally.  Their virtual
servers give root access, centos, ubuntu, debian, or others, for $20 a
month.
