My observations suggest that this issue only appears when {{[Always View Cart After Adding An Item]}} is checked, either on the +showcart+ page (+modifycart+), or in the +EditProductStore+ page in the Catalog Manager, section {{ShoppingCart}}, option {{[View Cart On Add]}}.
