If you want to have inventory registrations between the various production stages, it is better to spit up the production run. WIP as defined in OFBiz (and in many other ERPs) is a cost reporting and valuation mechanism at the end of a period, that will be reverted immediately thereafter for the new period. It is not an inventory registration mechanism.
