I agree. And I won't provide an 'Ant to Gradle Migration' document. Good title for a book, btw. :)

I believe our product documentation should be geared more towards applicability per release.
In this scenario: Ant related documentation for releases prior to the first of the 16.x branch (but that, I suspect, won't get many hands togetheras no more releases will be cut from those branches from now on), and Gradle related documentation for the releases from 16.x on.

See how several other Apache projects do this: (Https, Tomcat, ServiceMix, etc.).

I can't totally agree with your statement 'We are not at the end user level here'. Our product is also used by pop-and-mom webstores (e.g. Olagos in Belgium), where the devops skills are often not of the same high level as in bigger corporate deployments (Steven Singer?, Buchhandel.de?, AMI?). We also need to keep that in mind.
Hence the creation of and subsequent patch in OFBIZ-7780. I believe OFBIZ-7723 is a good issue. Until that will be brought to a favourable resolution, the aforementioned OFBIZ-7780 could be implemented as for the intermediate period.

> Documentation must be updated before any release, that will have the replacement of ant in place, can be cut.
