I think getting a new favicon together with the new bug - incorporating the feather in some form or fashion - is a good idea. I would vote for tabling putting it on the site until we can call get together and come up with an initial redesign.
Maybe we should do a quick initial redesign that focuses on simply changing the look and feel - but not reorganizing content? Then we can loop back around shortly after that to do the massive reorganization. What does everyone think of that?
