I guess back then contributors weren't that aware of using the SystemProperty entity to store configurations for components inner workings. Since then a lot of improvements related to the entity have been implemented.
We should not follow the path, we had back then, for 3rd Party Solution Integrations anymore. A hint how we can work with such 3rd Party Integrations, can be found in 2 integration components I did regarding 3rd Fintech solutions Adyen and MultiSafepay. See links.
