Thanks, [~jleroux] for looking into it.
This permission error is not related to the above fix.
DemoCustomer belongs to 'ECOMMERCE_CUSTOMER' security group and it has no permission for order update.
Therefore is working fine with the admin user but showing an error with DemoCustomer.
