Some questions:
For now, as I had priority issues, I simply increased maxTries to 100, and it works fine for now (we are not live at the moment). Though I did not have a chance to make any profiling yet, did you?
Why did you finally use SELECT FOR UPDATE rather than CREATE SEQUENCE? Did you use SELECT FOR UPDATE with the OOTB algorithm?
