[jira] [Commented] (OFBIZ-4794) set different ports for testing in a CI environment (e.g. Jenkins)

Jacques Le Roux commented on OFBIZ-4794:

# Ha sorry indeed, I did not mean port offset in this way. I meant the way you suggested of course (would not make sense anyway, what would be a port offset patch?). Something like

Anyway, thanks for you comments Adrian and Scott. But I will do as I want mostly because:
# I don't like much the complicated idea of maintaining patches in one committers people folder, or any places anyway
# I know I'm the one who will eventually have to support it
# I'm not convinced that the patch I proposed will be annoying for anybody and I don't foresee much config changes again in the future

First don't communicate with me directly, use one of the OFBiz MLs: [hidden email] or [hidden email]

The reason is I don't have any admin rights on the OFBiz MLs, actually none of the PMC members have.
It's handled at the ASF (Apache Software Fundation) level (we share most of the infrastructure between the 100+ projects at the ASF)

But if you ask on one of the OFBiz MLs, maybe someone will take the time to ask the ASF infrastructure team to look at you problem.
I already did that a couple of times and I never succeeded (either for subscribing or unsubscribing).
Each time I finally got caught between the user and the ASF, and... I'm getting pissed off...

This said, are you sure that you unsubscribed at the same address you subscribed? Is it [hidden email] ?
Could you explain exactly (steps) what you did and what happened finally?
Have you some emails you could copy to help?

Jacques

Please delete me from this email server.. I have tried the web page all unSubscribes
Yet, I keep getting emails from OFBIZ ..

  Thanks

It has been over three weeks and I am getting pissed off...

In reply to this post by Jacques Le Roux
Then maybe you just have to unregister from Jira
Since I don't know how to do it and it's not obvious in UI, please ask [hidden email]

I put a copy to the dev ML for the sake of history and a brief comment of my own

You are not the 1st and only one to complain about OFBiz using only MLs.
Of course we have also Nabble forums, but you need to be subscribed, so i'ts the same kind of issue

Some people can't even subscribe. So I believe OFBiz using only MLs was, and is still, an obstacle to our communication with possibly interested users.
Our way of communicating with them filters too much, and I see this as a reason why OFBiz is still so confidential

On the other hand, by default the ASF provides ML in 1st place, and I'm unfraid we have not the manpower to handle more...

  only JIRA

so how do I stop emails from JIRA?

Many thanks as I know this isn't your job... but.. the alternative is to subscribe to all
get answer and then unsubscribe to them all.

Many thanks for any advice or for forwarding this to the JIRA email admin
  to manually remove [hidden email]

Jacques... this is exactly why many people hate to join mailing lists.. and would rather
use forums or newgroups... IRC etc..

  Thanks again for your replies,

  Doug

I thought it could be related to Jira and not the MLs

But it seems you are not watching this Jira issue so it's not that.

As I said I have no time at the moment to figure it out. Do you receive only email from Jira or also normal ML emails?

Jira mails go through the dev list unless you're watching the issue.

Yes, it's kind of weird, I explained already:

In reply to this post by Jacques Le Roux
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAKE ME OFF OF YOUR MAILING LIST !!!

I subscribed too and unsubscribed from OFBIZ as I would love to have this product; however,
it isn't as user friendly as Mengenta. I have Mengenta (sorry about spelling) and I had a store selling in
one day... after a week I gave up on OFBIZ. Maybe ten years from now they will be the top application on
Ubuntu... I can see that... However, your just not going to grow (collect programmers) if you not collecting users.
IMHO

That said, add a link to the UNsubscribe pages so that it will be easier for others to UNsubscribe to JIRA.. thanks ;-)

Lastly, please remember to search your email lists/databases and remove [hidden email]

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE TAKE ME OFF OF YOUR MAILING LIST !!!

Best regards,

Douglas Cook

P.S. I am really disappointed as OFBIZ is going to be the most awesome application "ever" when
it so easy that windows users can install and use it. Secondly, If OFBIZ doesn't install like other
applications in UBUNTU.. please remove it... as your just generating bad publicity. Which will be
another hurdle to overcome when OFBIZ becomes user friendly and complete. IMHO

Then maybe you just have to unregister from
Jira
Since I don't know how to do it and it's not obvious in UI, please ask
[hidden email]

I put a copy
to the dev ML for the sake of history and a brief comment of my
own

You are not
the 1st and only one to complain about OFBiz using only MLs.
Of course we
have also Nabble forums, but you need to be subscribed, so i'ts the same kind of
issue

Some people
can't even subscribe. So I believe OFBiz using only MLs was, and is still,
an obstacle to our communication with possibly interested
users.
Our way of
communicating with them filters too much, and I see this as a reason why
OFBiz is still so confidential

On the other
hand, by default the ASF provides ML in 1st place, and I'm unfraid we
have not the manpower to handle more...

Jacques

Re: [jira] [Commented] (OFBIZ-4794) set different ports for testing in a CI environment (e.g. Jenkins)

Thanks Mark,

And sorry for disturbing, since I'm no longer a list moderator (I was briefly some years ago) I could not help. I hope it was only the Jira subscritpion.
But I doubt because he received a mail from [hidden email] (where the Jira issues changes are sent) though not being a watcher of this issue

Let's see (crossing fingers ;o)

Jacques
