One of the fundamental problems I see with the current implementation is the schema for the description of the external file(s) - datafiles.xsd. The <data-file> element tries to describe every file format - which makes it confusing and difficult to use. All of it is undocumented - making things worse. I propose we begin with a new schema that does a better job of separating and describing file formats.
